An Open Letter To Claire and the Potatoes

While I am saddened to hear the band will be disbanding later this year, I would like to thank you, Marc, Leslie, Guy and Jim for making one of the best albums of 2014 and one that I am very proud to own.

Have An Okay Time is a really fresh and unique sound to enter this scene in recent years. Its catchy and happy and sarcastic and all the things I love in an album. Its an album I put on when I'm in need of cheering up, when I want to relax with something fun, when I feel like dancing, when I want some inspiration writing and I've been playing it for anyone who will listen along with me. We're all diggin' it at work! It's gotten me through some stressful shifts, let me tell you.

I hope that you'll bow out with a following of fans remembering you fondly. I know I will. I can't really put into words how much this album touched me. Your Nerd Fest set was also one I'm so thrilled I got to catch, even if it was via livestream. However shortlived, Claire and the Potatoes have been great.

While I'm a big fan of Marc With A C and Milk Carton Superstars, and look forward to the next bodies of work from each, Claire and the Potatoes will hold a special place in my heart. I hope in the future we'll get to hear a little more from Leslie. It was a real shock to find someone so talented that hadn't been doing this before. I can't believe the world hadn't heard of Leslie Rising sooner! Such a beautiful voice and enigmatic front woman. It's really a pleasure to listen to you. Thank you for being another woman in the scene for me to look at for inspiration. Good luck Leslie. Wishing you happiness and good things.

Marc, Guy and Jim, good luck with your music. I'm a fan for life, whether its this or your respective bands. I look forward to what you do next.
